As a student in Computer Science, I am near the completion my bachelor’s degree. Currently, I hold a position as a Technical QA Analyst where I write and run Automated Tests with the purpose of insuring the quality of the product. I strive to put into practice the skills I’ve gained through my undergraduate studies as well as those I’ve obtained while I interned at the company. I’ve worked alongside developers and testers on my team where I have had the opportunity to be part of Agile Software Development practices. Even though I have obtained many skills while at the University, the approach taken was not so much test-driven as is used in Agile practices. Instead, the approach involved getting the projects completed with the intention of getting them to work, while not necessarily thoroughly tested. This is something that I believe should be incorporated in the program to better prepare students for the future.
I am passionate and exited about learning effective development and testing techniques and practices so that I can perform my job as best as possible. One of the skills I obtained during the internship was the use of and experience working with automation tools for testing desktop as well as web applications. These tools include Winrunner and the SWAT Editor (Simple Web Automation Tool, which was developed in-house).
